New College Curriculum Now Brought By Learning Management System
Tuesday, November 24th, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedColleges nationwide have begun to implement a Learning Management System into their curriculum that has revolutionized how material is being delivered to their students. Specialty Universities have been the first to break through this evolution in the education system as they offer programs that are solely for students who are pursuing degrees via distant learning. E learning courses that offer interactive curriculum such as; group projects, labs, quizzes, 3D modules, offer the same quality of material as in classroom courses.
Current Internet Marketing student, Jim Miller, tells about his experience attending Full Sail University, while currently located on the West Coast. Jim states that being a full time student and full time employee is difficult, but the flexibility and convenience of online learning is what allows him to pursue his degree and continue to establish a career. “It’s great because class is wherever you are. The convenience and flexibility of when you attend your class enables you to work your education around your career which helps to facilitate both endeavors.”
Learning Management System offers an alternative for students who seek further help with course material via various channels of communication. Professors and Counselors have opened their doors, virtually, to free up their availability with a 24/7 mentorship program, to help their students or answer any questions that students may have about the concepts. Distant learning courses offer numerous valuable tools to students, many of which exposes them to different styles of teaching and technology to ultimately enable them to identify with what best suits them when trying to understand or grasp a concept.
With every advantage there is always a disadvantage. Some Professors or Universities value interactive group projects and may require their students to participate in such activities for their assignments. This can pose many problems for students living in different time zones, having to plan around different work schedules, or picking up all the responsibility from a lesser motivated student. To ensure the integrity of the program, evaluations are conducted quarterly to determine whether or not the curriculum layout is delivering the material effectively.
When asked how he felt the Learning Management System curriculum and teaching compared to “in classroom” material and teaching in regards to quality, Jim states, “The only difference that I have experienced is that you are not physically in the classroom. I feel the quality of the curriculum and the concepts I am being taught are held at the same standard and uphold the same quality at any other University attending an in-person course.”
Colleges who have not yet created a Learning Management System online learning program, have implemented certain e learning components into their current curriculum. Some Professors have started experimenting with hosting online classes via chat room located on the School’s secured website. Building curiosity has people’s fascination boiling as they start talking about implementing their own Learning Management System into their course curriculum as online learning has proven ease in material delivery.
